If you are like me and
drawn into the fascinating world of
ancient remedies for healing and staying healthy, if you love to read and share
the knowledge you have gained, if you truly enjoy helping people to feel good,
be happy and end needless suffering - - -
then you have a calling!
Personally, my family and I use a lot of dietary
supplements each and every month. I garden and enjoy cooking with my organic
produce and herbs. I love herbal teas and healthy beverages. I much prefer
healthy cosmetics and beauty treatments to (cancer-causing) synthetic commercial
brands - - - especially those with a popular ‘brand-name’!
This became my major motivating factor in becoming an active distributor of
Young Living essential oils. I needed to be able to supply myself (and
family) with the items I want and need - - - on a regular basis and at a reduced
cost! I wanted the tax benefits of having a home-based business. I wanted to
be able to share and help with others. For me, becoming an active distributor
with Young Living was a win-win situation!
I looked for a home-based business that I could thoroughly enjoy. I picked
Y.L.E.O. because of their solid company financial stability. I looked for
products that were consumable, so that my customers would reorder on their own.
Products that consumers would develop an attachment with! I looked for
uniqueness - - - one that customers could not simply walk into just any health
food store and pick the product off the shelves! I particularly looked for high
quality (pharmaceutical grade) products. I found all of this with Young
Living Essential Oils!
The more I read, the more I continually discovered the
suppression of many, MANY healthy alternatives to synthetic legal-drugs and
toxic chemicals. Critical information, in regards to our personal health, IS
Purposely BEING SUPPRESSED! As more and more information is becoming available
to a formerly unknowing public, thanks to the Internet and talk radio, the more
I became convinced that my selection of Young Living products to
distribute became “The Right Place - - - At The Right Time!”
Science is just beginning to explore the mind-body connection and the awesome
power in The Biology of Belief. [The Biology of Belief is a book
written by Bruce Lipton Ph.D. dealing with cellular - DNA level - healing]
Foreign countries, such as England and Germany, use essential oils in nursing,
in hospitals! And the Middle East has always utilized essential oils for
combined healing and prayer. Through the efforts of Gary Young and Young
Living Essential Oils America is just now awakening to their power
and connection to healing - - - be it physical, spiritual or emotional! This
surely is “The Right Place - - - at the Right Time”!
Let me share with you ideas I have learned in becoming an
active distributor:
Most importantly it is about teaching - - - not
selling
It is about learning - - - not selling
 However, to have the necessary
tax shelter one must have a legitimate business. The way you go about it
depends on your personal preferences, drive, personality, time, and expenses.
You have to find what works best for you.
How To Make It Small:
I. Non-Confrontational Approach:
 Set up a website – I set up this
website. Sure it is not high-tech or glossy professional but I can share best
if I have a vehicle to do so. I took an adult class one evening and learned how
to do my own posting of articles, ideas, and products. If I can learn this - -
- anyone can! It does not have to be a major expense or require costly
personnel to maintain.
Advertise is any available format
(leave your brochures at the hair dresser or any public place, run ads where
items are placed freely, etc.) to contact you regarding free information.
Then simply mail them a Missing Link Tape and an Pricing/Order Form. Those
that want it will take it - - - Those that do not will ignore it.
 Create a newsletter!
II. Hands-on Approach:
 Do
home parties much like the ones you have attended for Tupperware,
baskets, jewelry, etc. Set your own policy of offering a hostess gift and
special gifts for getting additional bookings. Be as creative as you like!
Have a
Biblical Teaching if that is your
calling!
Get a
booth at a local health expo, or community event. Take your oils with you
and lay your books on the table. Perhaps diffuse oils into the atmosphere. Let
passer-bys smell some of the oils and maybe have them agree to try some on!
Have some brochures to contact you for a home party or private consultation
Set up and
announce a public meeting to tell about essential oils. Many libraries
or community centers offer free space and times.
Become a public speaker or
find someone who enjoys speaking to others and pair up to teach!
Perhaps you
can incorporate it into your current line of business or new career path - - -
like becoming a massage therapist!
III. The Serious Minded Approach - Commitment:
 Use or sell $100.00 on
"Rewards AutoShip" every month. Do “transfer buying” (changing
brands) to maintain this: everyone needs deodorant, toothpaste, shampoo, etc.
Instead of buying it at a store use the money and buy it from yourself! This
allows you to become a product of the product! What a great way to learn
about all the products you currently sell! Plus, the first time you buy ANY
Y.L.E.O. product that is YOUR sample - - - because you cannot prescribe,
diagnosis or treat....you can only sell through your own testimonials. This
sample product can be written off your taxes. FYI: I was just informed this
year by my own tax accountant that my monthly autoship purchases required to
obtain a monthly (taxable) commission check - - can also be written off!
Find three dedicated people and
build a team. Work together as a team on special events. Help your
three-team members to find their three key people. This is a sure path to
success. Duplicate with one another: As you pick up knowledge and skills pass
them on to your teammates. Have them do what you do - - - pass information on
like a ‘pony express’!
Get sales aids. You need
to have some handouts. The “Scents & Scentsability” (code 3882) booklet is a
package of 25 for $5.00. This is the best little brochure to handout! The
Essential 7 Kit brochure (code 3899) is the next most popular and it is 25 for
$3.00! NOTE: YLEO does not always offer the same brochures and they
discontinue one group for another - - - so if you particularly like a brochure,
I stock up on that one.
Please
listen to your monthly
CD/DVD, many times they contain excellent tips for building your own
home-business. If possible attend Y.L.E.O. events, such as a local
training and education seminar or the annual convention - - - it is a wonderful,
learning experience.
Be patient, too. For very few
people get instant success - - - commit to the long haul. It does take time to
get a solid foundation of return customers, especially in multi-level
marketing. Many people quit too soon, and for many reasons that is a mistake.
